Lavender is kind of traditional, as I understand. Just use lavender oil/herb in place of your regular love spell oils and powders.

Is there a specific type of candle or screened candle that I should use?

I don't know of one available at this site that's for homosexual love particularly -- I think any of the general love candles would do (Attraction, Come To Me) just dress with the lavender. Otherwise, Lucky Mojo sells a "Lavender Love" candle in particular, but really it's the dressing, not the candle, that's important.
Pink wax is for a more sweet, innocent love, or for reconciliation.
Red wax is for a more passionate, lusty romance, or when very strong attraction is desired.
White wax can be used for anything when in doubt.
