Okay so I bought some incense, and was wondering how to use them. I mean, just light them and walk way or?????. What should I do to get them to work!

There are many different ways to use incense in magic. Speaking for myself, I use a few different procedures depending on things like whether the incense is just part of a spell or whether it's to be the entirety of the spell, and also whether it's to influence my immediate surroundings or to work on a larger scale, and so on.
If the incense burning alone is all I have planned, and it's just to create an effect in my immediate surroundings (like purifying a room) I just light it, and say my intent when lighting it, then go about my business.
If it's for a more complicated intent, like to affect other people or bring me something like success from far away, I will usually try to also have some complementary oil on hand (like if I wanted to do a success spell, I'd use Success incense and some Success oil.) Then I write out a paper with whatever I'm wanting to achieve, or with the name of the person to influence, and dot the corners with the oil; then I set the paper under the burner and light the incense, again stating the intent.
Usually, I dispose of the ashes in my yard. Sometimes, when I have the paper and ashes leftover, I might put both into my shoe to keep the spell working.
If I'm using an incense that need to be burnt on charcoal, I state the intent at the time I drop the incense onto the burning coal, instead of at the time of lighting.
